Will having more batteries allow me to support more equipment?
The simple answer is no. Batteries are an energy source. Having more batteries will give you more energy storage. The limiting factor with a UPS is the amount of power or current the UPS can output (when in backup mode!) at any one time. If a computer draws 300VA of power and you have a 500VA UPS, hooking up twice the amount of batteries won't allow you to support two computers at 300VA each, rather it will allow the UPS to run in backup mode (mains power off) for a longer period of time. Think of your battery bank as a fuel tank in a car. Having a larger fuel tank won't allow you to go faster or produce more power, but it will allow you to run for longer without refueling.
